Not Just Good Food. Food for Good.

With $4.3 million invested in food programs in 2009, Robin Hood was New York City’s largest non-government funder of emergency food.  But in a year when the need was greater than ever, Robin Hood did even more by partnering with FreshDirect to provide meals for 120,000 New Yorkers who might otherwise go hungry during the holiday season.

Individuals were invited to donate holiday meals directly through Fresh Direct's Web site. FreshDirect then distributed those meals to New Yorkers in need.  Priced at $50 apiece, each meal included a turkey and all the fixings, enough for eight people.

It was also Robin Hood’s first viral campaign.  We fed even more New Yorkers thanks to Robin Hood’s supporters and FreshDirect's customers, employees and friends who shared the message via social media. In addition, the campaign was highlighted on company message boards and a Times Square billboard was donated to help drive donations.

More than 1.3 million people in New York City currently rely on emergency food to feed their families.  For more information on how your company can help, please contact us on our corporate Take Action page.

* Robin Hood's board and a donor are making a two-year matching grant that will double the impact of donations up to $100 million. The match is contingent on your donation.
